Client story · Elixir Solutions

Dialog's new website went live on its date. I built the three parts the theme didn't have.

Dialog, the Dutch HR software company by Visma, moved its website to HubSpot with Elixir Solutions on GrowBig. The go-live date was fixed and the design asked for more than the theme had. Elixir built the pages; I built three custom modules in a week. The site went live on 22 January 2026.

01 · Before

The situation

“They also mentioned that some customisations may be carried out after the go-live. However, they would like our input on which items are still feasible to complete before the planned go-live on 22/01.”
Laura DebbautElixir, 11 December 2025
  • A go-live date that couldn't move

Dialog had set 22 January for the new site. Every request had to fit before it, or wait until after.

  • A design beyond the theme

Dialog's brand uses a rounded shape on its call-to-action sections, a see-through menu and cards with photos behind them. GrowBig had none of these.

  • More wishes than time

The first requirements list was longer than a few weeks allowed. Dialog needed help choosing what had to be there on day one.

  • An agency that builds its own pages

Elixir's team was building every page. They needed modules they could place and edit themselves, without a developer.

“Main prio for them is the CTA module… In case you would not be able to deliver all requests, the CTA one has prio.”
Laura DebbautElixir, 7 January 2026

02 · Conditions

Who did what, and the rules we agreed

  • Their side

    Elixir Solutions

Requirements document, all contact with Dialog, building every page on GrowBig, the validation meetings

  • Their side

    Dialog

Brand and design in Figma, choosing the must-haves, approving the budget

  • Build

    Me

Reviewing the requirements, options by video, the three custom modules on their child theme, a handover video

  • I reviewed the full list first and answered with a video, before any estimate
  • Version 1 got the must-haves only; the rest can follow after go-live
  • A fixed price per module, agreed before I started
  • Built on Elixir's child theme, so theme updates stay safe
  • On phones the brand shape resizes instead of copying Figma exactly: agreed up front, so text stays readable
  • Client work stays under Elixir's name

03 · Step by step

How it happened

Six weeks from the requirements to launch. One week of building.

  1. 11 Dec 2025

    The requirements arrive

Elixir sent Dialog's wish list, with go-live set for 22 January.

  2. 15 Dec

    Reviewed by video

Options and open questions for each request, in one short video.

  3. 8 Jan 2026

    Cut to three must-haves

A call with Laura: the CTA section first, then the header and the cards. A concept video for the header the same day.

  4. 13 Jan

    Go-ahead

Dialog approved the budget. I started the next day.

  5. 19 Jan

    Two modules ready

Laura: “The 2 modules look great”

  6. 20 Jan

    All three delivered

With a walkthrough video for Elixir's team.

  7. 21 Jan

    Blog pages fixed

Laura: “I checked everything and everything looks good.”

  8. 22 Jan

    Live

Laura: “The client is super happy! 🥳🥳”

04 · Along the way

Problems solved on the way

Most answers went out as short videos the team could replay.

  • A header that sees through

The menu had to stay the theme's own, only transparent, so the dark or mid-blue hero shows behind it. It took a day longer than planned and was still ready before the validation meeting.

  • Blog pages with a white hero

On blog posts the hero text was white on white. I added an option for the blog hero the same morning.

  • A brand shape on phones

The rounded shape can't look the same on a small screen. We agreed up front that it resizes and the text stays readable.

05 · After launch

The result

“Thanks for the clear walkthrough video — very helpful. I've now added all custom modules to the relevant pages and set up the menu as you suggested.”
Laura DebbautElixir, 21 January 2026
“Just giving you an update that the website is live… The client is super happy! 🥳🥳”
Laura DebbautElixir, 22 January 2026

What their team does on its own now

  • Elixir placed the modules on every page themselves, from one video
  • Elixir set up the transparent menu themselves
  • Nine months later, dialog.nl still runs on GrowBig with these modules

06 · Earlier

Before Dialog: Elixir moved its own website to GrowBig

Elixir chose GrowBig for its own site first. Their team built it; I helped where it needed a developer.

  1. 31 Jul 2024

    GrowBig set up

The partner version installed in Elixir's HubSpot account.

  2. 3 Oct 2024

    Why they chose it

Wouter wrote a review: built quickly, easy to keep up, fits the StoryBrand framework.

  3. Feb–Mar 2025

    Their team builds

Each blocker explained in a short video: pages that wouldn't save, fonts, pages on the wrong theme.

  4. 28 May 2025

    Their English site live

    In English, French and German.

“The main reason we chose the GrowBig theme is for our website as well as providing our clients with new websites based on this template since it fullfills the need to build a website quickly and efficiently, while aligning it with the StoryBrand framework.”
Wouter GijsbertsenElixir, 3 October 2024
“The feedback of management was very positive and internally we really see this as a big big improvement.”
Laura DebbautElixir, 28 May 2025

07 · Lessons

What made it work

  • Must-haves first

Three modules on the date beat ten modules late. The rest can follow after go-live.

  • The agency builds, I do the hard parts

Elixir's team built every page; I only built what needed code.

  • Videos instead of meetings

One review video, one concept video, one handover video: the team could replay them and keep going.
